How Do I Permanently Delete A Paddock?

Retire the paddock first, then delete it to remove all records for good—here’s the quick, two-step process.

When should I retire or delete a paddock?

Retiring is a semi-permanent action. Use it when two (or more) paddocks become one, when a block is permanently repurposed, or in any situation where you want to keep the historical data but stop new activities being logged. Because the paddock’s history lives on, you would normally leave it retired for good. The Reinstate button exists only for edge cases—e.g. if you later split that merged paddock back into its originals—so it shouldn’t be part of routine seasonal management.

Deleting goes a step further: it erases the paddock and every associated record forever. Choose Delete only when the information is no longer needed (for example, land has been sold or subdivided and the history is forever irrelevant to you and your farm).

How to permanently delete a paddock

Warning: this cannot be undone. Once deleted, all grazing records, activities, tasks and notes linked to the paddock are removed from your farm forever.

  1. Make sure the paddock is Retired (see steps above).

  2. Click Delete.

  3. Read the confirmation message carefully:

“This will permanently remove this paddock and all associated records and activities. This process is irreversible and could take up to 1 minute to complete—please be patient. Are you sure you want to continue?”
  4. Click OK to confirm.

  5. Wait until the deletion completes (you may see a short loading spinner). The paddock disappears from your map and lists.

Frequently asked questions

What is “deleting” a paddock?

Deleting is the same as removing, erasing, or destroying a paddock in computer terms. The paddock and every linked record vanish permanently.

How do I remove a paddock?

“Remove” is another word for delete—follow the retire-then-delete steps above.

Can I destroy or erase a paddock without retiring first?

No. For safety, the system always requires you to retire a paddock before you can delete (remove / erase / destroy) it.

Will deleting affect my pasture growth figures or reports?

Yes. Any historic data tied to the paddock is removed, so farm-level summaries will no longer include those records.

What if I only want to hide a paddock semi permanently?

Use Retire, not Delete. You can reinstate later and the full history reappears.
