[Herds](https://help.pasture.io/livestock?hsLang=en#herds) # Updating Herd numbers ## Herd numbers are used to calculate information within Pasture.io. Keeping these up to date ensures accurate results. Herd numbers change throughout the seasons. Simply adjust your stock up or down to keep everything accurate.       From the **Home Screen** select: - **Herds** - **View All** - **Click** on the **Adjust** tab for the relevant herd ![](https://help.pasture.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-13-21-4165-AM.png?width=670&height=169&name=image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-13-21-4165-AM.png)        When selected, a pop-up window will appear allowing you to enter the new details.   1. **Date and Time of the Movement** Enter the **Date** by choosing from the calendar ![](https://help.pasture.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-15-07-7714-AM.png?width=349&height=267&name=image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-15-07-7714-AM.png) The **Time** can be changed by clicking on the clock icon at the bottom of the calendar pop-up and scrolling through the time  ![](https://help.pasture.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-15-31-2429-AM.png?width=370&height=299&name=image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-15-31-2429-AM.png) 2. **Original Size** - reflects the current stock number 3. **New Size** – enter the new increased or decreased size of the herd 4. **Amount** – PIO calculates the difference between the herd sizes 5. **Movement**  – Use this drop-down to use the relative option 6. **Save Herd Inventory** - Save your changes     ***Movement can be increased or decreased***   If the herd size has **decreased** there are four options  ![](https://help.pasture.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-21-11-6640-AM.png?width=442&height=305&name=image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-21-11-6640-AM.png) 1. **Other** – this is for when you move your stock off farm to an area not listed on your Pasture.io farm map or home kill **Sales** – for when you have sold stock 2. **Deaths** – when stock have died 3. **Movement out**- when you move stock out to a different herd you have listed in Pasture.io When **Movement Out** is selected you will see the other herds listed. Select the herd which has **increased** **![](https://help.pasture.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-23-18-6539-AM.png?width=399&height=319&name=image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-23-18-6539-AM.png)** This will **automatically update** the new numbers in **the herd which has increased**   If the herd size has **Increased** there are four options ![](https://help.pasture.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-24-35-4138-AM.png?width=391&height=344&name=image-png-Jan-12-2026-03-24-35-4138-AM.png) 1. **Other** – this is for when you move your stock onto farm from an area not listed on your Pasture.io farm map 2. **Purchased** – for have stock you have bought 3. **Natural Increase** - births 4. **Movement In** - when you move stock in from a different herd you have listed in Pasture.io When **Movement In** is selected you will see the other herds listed. Select the herd which has **decreased** This will **automatically update** the new numbers in **the herd which has decreased**   ***Note:** Changes won’t affect existing grazings.
