How the Padlock Works

When creating a grazing using PIO’s calculations, the feed wedge will align with your Monthly Target settings. However, if you want to graze only part of a paddock or graze below the set post-grazing residual, you can use the padlock to enter the residual based on your own data.

In both these examples the feed wedge for this paddock is showing a cover of 3500kg/DM

To create a higher post residual:

Pasture demand is locked in at 10KgDM/animal/day
PIO recommended 5.5days, but in this case, it is only being grazed for to 2 days
Post residual is then calculated and shown on the feed wedge as 2823kgDM/ha when the grazing plan has been completed. (above the post residual target set in Monthly Targets)

To create a lower post residual:

Pasture demand is locked in at 16KgDM/animal/day
PIO recommended 5.5days, but in this case, it is being grazed for 14 days
Post residual is then calculated and shown on the feed wedge as 816kgDM/ha when the grazing plan has been completed. (below the post residual target set in Monthly Targets)
