Understanding the Pasture Demand Indicator?
The Pasture Demand Indicator is a tool that calculates how much pasture your herd needs based on several factors including paddock cover, herd size, and the demand of your herd in kilograms of dry matter per day per animal (kgDM/Day/Animal). It helps you see how long your paddock covers will last for your herd and checks if your grazing plan meets the target requirements.
When determining the amount of pasture demand, PIO considers the cover of the paddock, the size of the herd, the demand of that herd (KgDM/Day/Animal )and then calculates the amount of days available to sustain these figures
- Inputs Used: Paddock cover, herd size, herd demand (KgDM/Day/Animal).
- Calculated Output: Number of days available for grazing.
When determining the number of days of grazing, PIO considers the cover of the paddock, the size of the herd the demand of that herd and then calculates , and updates, the amount of KgDM/Day/Animal available
· Inputs Used: Paddock cover, herd size, target number of grazing days.
· Calculated Output: Available feed allowance per animal (KgDM/Day/Animal).
